Gundam VR Games: What Exists, What Is Fan-Made, and What to Play
There is exactly one official Gundam VR game on Meta Quest: Mobile Suit Gundam: Silver Phantom, an interactive anime film with light shooting sections that runs one to two hours. If you want to actually pilot a mobile suit in combat, no official Gundam title does that in VR at the time of writing, and the fan-made options live in VRChat. The games that come closest to the fantasy are Mecha Force, with its anime-style KYLIN mech, and our own MECHA, a fast aerial arena game. We cover all of it below.

The official Gundam VR game: Silver Phantom
Mobile Suit Gundam: Silver Phantom is produced by Bandai Namco Filmworks with the VR studio Atlas V. It is best described as an interactive anime film. You are placed inside a Gundam story, you watch scenes unfold around you at full scale, and in a few sections you take control for light shooting. It is not a combat game and it does not pretend to be one.
Running time is one to two hours. It costs about $17.99 on the Quest store and holds a 3.9 rating from 420 reviews at the time of writing. A PS VR2 version arrived in November 2025. If you are a Gundam fan who wants to stand next to a mobile suit and watch a story from inside it, that is what Silver Phantom delivers. If you searched for a gundam VR game hoping to strap into a cockpit and fight, you will finish it wanting more, which is a common note in the reviews.
Verdict: worth it for Gundam fans who want an anime experience, not for people who want to pilot.
Try MECHA on Meta Quest. Fly a 200-ton mech with your body, no internet required, $9.99 one time. Get MECHA on the Meta Quest Store.
What is fan-made
Outside Silver Phantom, Gundam in VR is a community effort. VRChat hosts fan-made Gundam worlds and avatars, so you can walk around a hangar, stand under a full-scale mobile suit, or wear one as an avatar. These are unofficial, they are not games in the usual sense, and quality varies from world to world. They are also free to visit if you already have VRChat, which makes them the cheapest way to get a Gundam fix in a headset.
What you will not find, at the time of writing, is an official Gundam combat game in VR beyond Silver Phantom. Bandai Namco has not announced one for Quest, and the mecha games that do exist on the platform are original properties rather than licensed ones.
VR games like Gundam: what to play if you want to pilot a mobile suit
These are the Quest games that get closest to the Gundam fantasy of piloting a humanoid machine in fast combat. None of them carries the license, so judge them on feel.
Mecha Force
Mecha Force by Ming Studio is the most anime-flavored mech game on Quest. You pilot the KYLIN, a stylized mecha with the proportions and energy of a Gundam-era design, from inside a cockpit, and you fight in melee through single-player roguelike runs. It went into Early Access in May 2025 and holds a 4.8 rating from 609 reviews at the time of writing, which is remarkable for a small studio. It supports standing and sitting, its store comfort rating is moderate, and it costs about $9.99. It is also on Steam. If your favorite Gundam moments are beam sabers at close range, start here.
Verdict: the closest thing to an anime mecha cockpit on Quest.
MECHA
MECHA is our game, and it aims at a different part of the Gundam fantasy: the aerial dogfight. You pilot a 200-ton flying mech in the Mecha League, a combat sport fought in explosive arenas, and you move it by leaning your body to strafe, dash and dodge. Raise your arm to deploy a shield, aim with precision, and trigger Gigaform to triple your mech's size and dominate the arena for a time. Career mode climbs a rank ladder from Rookie to All-Star with tournaments, rival pilots carrying cash bounties, sponsor missions and mods with real trade-offs. You can paint your mech with custom neon glow, which Gundam fans will appreciate. It is single-player only, needs no internet, costs about $9.99, and supports seated, standing and roomscale play.
Verdict: the pick for fast aerial mecha combat and a career to climb.
Vox Machinae
Vox Machinae is the heavy option. Its mechs are slow walking machines with physical cockpit controls, closer to Western mech sims than to Gundam's agile mobile suits. It has multiplayer and a single-player campaign added in 2022, costs about $29.99 and is rated 4.2 from 509 reviews at the time of writing. Buy it if you want weight over agility.
Verdict: not very Gundam, but the best cockpit sim on Quest.
UNDERDOGS
UNDERDOGS by One Hamsa drops the cockpit entirely. Your arms are the mech's arms, and you brawl through an underground fight league in single-player roguelike runs. It is rated 4.8 from 3.2K reviews at the time of writing and was about $19.99 on sale from $29.99. It is the game to play if what you want from a mecha VR experience is physical impact.
Verdict: the best mech brawler on Quest, and a good fit for Gundam fans who like hand-to-hand.

Why we wrote this
We are Hyperlight VR, the two-person studio behind MECHA, and we grew up on mecha anime like most people who make mech games. We play everything in this category and wanted an honest answer to the Gundam VR question in one place. We will keep this updated if Bandai Namco announces a Gundam combat game for VR.
