Is There a Pacific Rim VR Game? How to Pilot a Jaeger on Quest
There is no Pacific Rim VR game you can buy. The only one that ever existed was Pacific Rim: Jaeger Pilot, a 2014 Comic-Con demo for the Oculus Rift DK2 that was never released to the public. If you want to pilot a Jaeger-sized machine on a Meta Quest today, the closest options are Kaiju Battle Simulator for city-smashing scale, Vox Machinae for a heavy cockpit, and our own MECHA, which lets you triple your mech's size mid-fight with Gigaform. Here is what the demo was, and what to play instead.

What was the Pacific Rim VR game, Jaeger Pilot?
Pacific Rim: Jaeger Pilot was built by Legendary together with Oculus and shown at San Diego Comic-Con in 2014. It ran on the Oculus Rift DK2, the second developer kit, well before consumer VR headsets existed. It was made in Unreal Engine 4 using assets from ILM, the effects studio behind the film, so the Jaeger and the Kaiju were the real film models rather than approximations.
The demo put you in the Conn-Pod of Gipsy Danger fighting Knifehead, the Kaiju from the film's opening. It lasted five to ten minutes. People who tried it described the scale as the memorable part: looking out through the cockpit at something the size of a building coming toward you.
It was never released. There was no store version, no home release, and no follow-up. It exists now as convention footage and write-ups. If you search for Pacific Rim Jaeger Pilot Oculus, that is what you will find.

How to pilot a Jaeger on Quest: the closest games
No Quest game carries the Pacific Rim license. What you can get is the pieces of the fantasy, split across a few games: scale, cockpit weight, and fighting something huge. We make one of them, so we have said plainly where each fits.
Kaiju Battle Simulator
Kaiju Battle Simulator is the scale pick. You play as a giant monster or mech and smash through a city, knocking down buildings that are shorter than you are. It is a sandbox rather than a structured fight, and the store rating of 4.6 from 3.2K reviews at the time of writing tells you how well it delivers the feeling of being enormous. About $11.99. If the Jaeger fantasy for you is size first, start here.
Verdict: the closest you can get to Jaeger scale on Quest.
Vox Machinae
Vox Machinae is the cockpit pick. You sit in a mech, work physical controls, and pilot a slow, heavy walking machine. It is not Jaeger-sized and there are no Kaiju, but the sense of operating something with mass from inside a cockpit is the strongest on the platform. Multiplayer with a single-player campaign added in 2022, about $29.99, rated 4.2 from 509 reviews at the time of writing, and it supports seated play.
Verdict: the Conn-Pod feeling without the Kaiju.
MECHA
MECHA is our game and it goes at the fantasy from a different angle. You pilot a 200-ton flying mech in the Mecha League, an arena combat sport, and you move by leaning your body to strafe, dash and dodge. The Pacific Rim connection is Gigaform: a power that triples your mech's size so you tower over the arena for a stretch of the fight. Raise your arm to deploy a shield, then climb a career ladder from Rookie to All-Star with tournaments, rival pilots and sponsor missions. Single-player only, no internet needed, about $9.99, seated or standing. The full pilot's briefing is in our MECHA beginner's guide.
Verdict: the fastest pilot experience on Quest, with a moment of Jaeger scale built in.
UNDERDOGS
UNDERDOGS by One Hamsa is the brawl pick. Your arms drive the mech's arms and you fight through an underground league in roguelike runs. Jaeger combat in the film is mostly punching, and this is the Quest game that makes punching in a mech feel right. Single-player, rated 4.8 from 3.2K reviews at the time of writing, about $19.99 on sale from $29.99.
Verdict: the game for people whose favorite Jaeger move is the elbow rocket.

Why we wrote this
We are Hyperlight VR, the two-person studio behind MECHA, and the Jaeger Pilot demo is one of the reasons we make mech games at all. We play everything in this category and wanted a straight answer in one place. We will keep this updated if a Pacific Rim VR game is ever announced.
