Best Indie VR Games on Quest 3 (2026): Small Teams, Big Ideas

The best indie VR games on Quest 3 come from teams you could fit in a car: solo developers, two-person studios and small crews shipping ideas a big publisher would never green-light. Our current picks are Fixer Undercover, UNDERDOGS, Cubism, Into the Radius, COMPOUND and our own MECHA, with a longer list below. Every game here is a native Quest title, Quest 3S runs the same library, and we note team size only where the developer has said it publicly.

MECHA

MECHA is ours, made by two people at Hyperlight VR. You pilot a 200-ton flying mech in an arena combat sport, using your body as the flight stick: lean to strafe, dash and dodge. Raise an arm to shield, trigger Gigaform to triple your size, and climb a career ladder from Rookie to All-Star with rival pilots, sponsors and tournaments. Mods trade one strength for another, and paint schemes have adjustable neon glow. It is single-player only and needs no internet. One store reviewer wrote that "the movement and combat are very unique and unlike any VR game i have played." Verdict: the indie mech game we would obviously pick, and the one we can vouch for line by line.

Try MECHA on Meta Quest. Fly a 200-ton mech with your body, no internet required, $9.99 one time. Get MECHA on the Meta Quest Store.

UNDERDOGS

UNDERDOGS by One Hamsa is an arm-driven mech brawler roguelike set in an underground fight league. You haul your machine around with your arms and trade blows until one of you drops, then spend your winnings on upgrades and go again. It is single-player, physical, and sits at 4.8 from over 3,000 reviews at time of writing, which is rare air on the Quest store. Verdict: the indie game most likely to make a big-studio mech game look timid.

Cubism

Cubism is a 3D block puzzle made by solo developer Thomas Van Bouwel. You fit pieces into shapes floating in front of you, and that is the whole game. It is seated-friendly, quiet, and precise in a way that shows how much care one person can put into one idea. Verdict: the best example on Quest of a small game done completely.

Fixer Undercover

Fixer Undercover is a puzzle and escape-room game that Duuro called the best Quest game of 2026 so far. It leans on hands-on interaction and clever room design rather than spectacle. Check the store page for the current price. Verdict: the indie breakout of 2026 at the time of writing.

Into the Radius

Into the Radius from CM Games is a slow, tense survival shooter where every reload is manual and every trip out is a risk. It is not a game you dip into for five minutes. Check the store page for the current price. Verdict: the deepest game on this list, and the one that rewards patience most.

COMPOUND

COMPOUND by notdeadgames is a retro roguelike shooter with a chunky, low-resolution look and fast runs. It is about $19.99 and wears its indie roots proudly. Verdict: for players who want a shooter with personality over polish.

Ancient Dungeon VR

Ancient Dungeon VR was built by solo developer Eric Thullen. It is a dungeon crawler with a blocky style and a run-based loop, and it is a reminder that one person with a clear idea can ship something people keep playing. Check the store page for the current price. Verdict: the solo-dev dungeon crawler to try.

Mecha Force

Mecha Force by Ming Studio is a single-player roguelike melee mecha game with an anime-style KYLIN mech and a cockpit view. It entered Early Access in May 2025 and holds a 4.8 rating at time of writing. Comfort is listed as moderate. Verdict: the anime mech indie pick, at about $9.99.

Be A Chameleon

Be A Chameleon is about $7.99 and rated 4.9 at time of writing, which makes it one of the highest-rated games on the store at any price. It is small, strange and charming, and exactly the kind of thing that only an indie would make. Verdict: cheap enough to buy on the rating alone.

The Lightkeepers

The Lightkeepers is co-op Lovecraft action at about $19.99. It is one of the few entries here built around playing with other people online, so it is not an offline pick. Verdict: the co-op indie choice if you have a regular group.

Trombone Champ: Unflattened

Trombone Champ: Unflattened brings the trombone rhythm game to VR at about $19.99. It is a comedy first and a rhythm game second, and it works because it commits to the joke. Verdict: the game to hand a friend who thinks VR is serious.

Gorilla Tag

Gorilla Tag by Another Axiom is free, online, and moved by your arms alone: no thumbsticks, just pushing off the world. It is a good example of an indie idea about locomotion becoming a whole community. It needs an internet connection. Verdict: free, physical and worth understanding even if you do not stay.
